Before we start I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you’ve had a great festive break relaxing and seeing family and friends (and getting some well deserved gaming time in).

2023 Recap

Today marks the last day of 2023, and what a year it’s been for us gamers. It’s amazing how many new games, accessories and updates we’ve seen throughout the year.

• Baldur’s Gate 3 won Game of the Year

• PlayStation released the PS VR2, DualSense Edge, PS5 Slim, Portal and Earbuds

• We saw new games including Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2 and Hogwarts Legacy

• Xbox acquired Activision Blizzard

• The Day Before turned out to be a huge scam?

• Jim Ryan announced he was stepping down from PlayStation

• Too many leaks/hacks that negatively impact us all

GTA VI

On December 4th we got the long awaited trailer for GTA VI and I am pleased to see we’re heading back to Vice City. The cars, the music, the beaches…. the clubs, all look awesome. The 90 second trailer gave us enough to get hyped, and ended up hitting 93 MILLION views in the first 24 hours. It now holds the record for most views from a non-music video in the same period. That’s incredible. GTA IV is set to launch in 2025.

New Games January

December had a few good games worth playing, most notably Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. I’ve put a few dozen hours into this open-world game and seriously impressed by how nice it looks.

January is just around the corner and there are a few games worth looking out for:

• Tekken 8 on January 26th

• Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on January 18th

• Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth on January 26th

• The Last of Us Part II Remastered on January 19th

PlayStation Plus ‘Free Games’

In December we got (you have until Jan 1st to download):

• LEGO 2K Drive | PS4, PS5

• Powerwash Simulator | PS4, PS5

• Sable | PS5

In January we’ll be getting (Jan 2nd until Feb 5th):

• A Plague Tale: Requiem | PS5

• Nobody Saves the World | PS4, PS5

Games I’m Playing

• Avatar Frontiers of Pandora - This massive open-world game has taken me by surprise. Flying, running and jumping around the map, taking in the scenery and fighting off enemies. It’s giving me HFW vibes, but I just wish it had an option for 3rd person view. 8/10

• God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla - In December we got the free DLC for GOW, and this has been incredible. If you’ve got the base game already you need to check this out 9/10
