Hello and welcome to issue #02. Firstly I wanted to say thank you for subscribing, this is likely the first email you’ve seen from me to hit your inbox so if you do take the time to read it, I appreciate it.

And secondly, what a month it’s been for new games, gaming updates and news.

Giveaway

Last week I ran a giveaway over on Instagram (winner gets picked on November 1st). It’s for a Logitech G Cloud handheld console. If you’re reading this before Nov 1st, you’ve still got time.

PS5 Cloud Streaming Update

Last month PlayStation confirmed that cloud streaming PS5 games would be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium, well that’s now rolled out across Europe and US (more countries to follow). Some will argue to “just download it” but there are a couple of scenarios where cloud streaming is more convenient:

You might not have the available local storage to download the game.
You don’t want to wait 2-10 hours for it to install.

What do you think, would you use Cloud Streaming?

PlayStation Portal

On November 15th the new PlayStation Portal will be launching worldwide. This is the handheld gaming device that will connect to your PS5 to stream/remote play games. I’ve got one on order and will review it on the channel as soon as I can (within a couple of days of delivery).

Now although you need a PS5 for it to work, I’m secretly hoping that the Cloud Streaming included in PS Plus will eventually work with it. I guess only time will tell.

Xbox Controllers

If you’ve got an Xbox Series X/S an update is coming that will prevent third party controllers from working if they are not officially licenced. This means if you’re using a controller like this, from 12/11/2023 it won’t work and you’ll be shown a warning message like the below.

The only third party controller I use now is SCUF, and they have already addressed this concern stating their controllers are licensed and will continue to work. Anyone else use SCUF on their Xbox?

Games I’m Playing

Spider-Man 2 - This launched on October 20th (I also bought the CE and did an unboxing on the channel). Within ~22 hours I’d finished the main story, and ~36 hours I got the Plat. This will go down as my GOTY and is a respectable sequel to the others. Easy 10/10.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage - I’m currently still playing this. I finished the main story a few days ago and going for the Plat. To be honest though, although the visuals and landscape are stunning, I felt the story was lacking. It left me wanting more (maybe some DLC will help). 6.5/10
Sonic Superstars - This has a nice nostalgic yet modern feel to it. It’s a lot of fun and something I can pick up and play to fill time between other games. 6/10.
The Finals - I jumped on the BETA last week and had a pretty good time on it. It’s a team based FPS but with a gameshow twist. Some of the 3v3v3 modes are a lot of fun, but to be honest, I’m not sure it’s a game I’d return to after the trial 5/10.

On top of the above, I still have games I got but haven’t even played yet. This includes Hot Wheels 2, Lords of the Fallen and Forza Motorsport. Both Spider-Man 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage took so much of my time.

Games I’m HYPED for

So October was incredibly busy for new games, but there are a few coming out I’m hyped for in November:

COD MW3 - it’s a guilty pleasure (sorry)
RoboCop Rogue City (this looks great with the 80s vibe)
Walking Dead Destinies (the graphics look terrible, but the idea behind the story is interesting - being able to control the narrative)
